POSTER #102 SURF SAFARI
9"x14.5" quality laser print
With the success of SURF came enough money to buy new equipment and devote more time to a second film, SURF SAFARI. This film, released in 1959, was the first surf movie to feature synchronized music, sound and film effects, and a dramatic wipe-out finale. The discovery of The Ranch was a highlight, but the thumping theme from Peter Gunn to open the film was the stoke setter. A new music group, called The Beach Boys, came to see the film and soon after wrote Surfin' Safari.
The original poster was silk screened on heavy cardboard, with very few surviving the stapling, pull downs, garage storage and years of being taste treats to silverfish and assorted paper munchers.
