This film was named by Severson for the odd coincidence of all the great surf days of the year falling on Wednesdays. Severson was convinced when he shot the finale of the film in Hawaii, and sure enough..another BIG WEDNESDAY!
The film opening started with Saturday, and a two foot paddle out. Each day progressed with thundering music building to a climactic BIG WEDNESDAY title on a blue Waimea Bay wall, littered with surfers scratching for survival.
Full of surf, fun and travel, the film impressed a young gremmie named John Milius, who later made the big time in Hollywood, and bought the title for Hollywood's BIG WEDNESDAY.
